Page and Content Status Types

TerminalFour pages and content blocks have four possible Statuses:

  • Approved (Green) – Live and visible to the world the next time the website republishes.
  • Pending (Orange) – Page / content that’s still being added / updated. The most updated version of the page / content is visible in T4 Preview, but not on the public website. Essentially the same as “Draft” status. (Note: Child pages of a section marked “Pending” will also be treated as “Pending” pages.)
  • Draft (Gray) – Content that’s still being added / updated. The most updated version of the content is visible in T4 Preview, but not on the public website. Essentially the same as “Pending” status. (Note: Only content blocks can be set to “Draft” status. Pages cannot.)
  • Inactive (Red) – Old content that is no longer needed and ready for deletion. Not visible in T4 Preview or on the public website. Please note that child pages of a section marked “Inactive” will also be treated as “Inactive” pages.

These statuses will never change on their own, and need to be manually changed from one to another. For example, if you leave a content block set as “Pending”, it will never automatically switch to “Approved”. After changing a page or content block’s status, it will typically be reflected on the live website after 20-30 minutes when it next republishes.

Changing a Content Block’s Status

To change a content block to Approved, Draft, Pending or Inactive status, you first need to edit the content block and scroll to the bottom. You’ll see the red “Delete” button and the blue “Save changes” button with a downward arrow next to it.

  • To set the content block to “Pending”, simply click the “Save changes” button.
  • To set the content block to “Approved”, click the downward arrow next to the “Save Changes” button and select “Save and approve” from the menu.
  • To set the content block to “Draft”, click the downward arrow next to the “Save Changes” button and select “Save as draft” from the menu.
  • To set the content block to “Inactive”, click the red “Delete” button on the bottom-left.

Alternatively, you can also set a content block to “Inactive” when viewing the “Content” tab of the given page, clicking the “Actions” dropdown menu to the right of the content in question, and selecting “Delete” at the bottom of the list of options.

Changing a Page’s Status

To change a page / section to Approved, Pending or Inactive status, locate and open the page in T4, make sure you’re on the “General” tab, and click the “Status” dropdown menu just below the page’s title. After selecting the desired status, scroll down to the bottom and click the blue “Save Changes” button.

Alternatively, you can also set a page / section to “Inactive” when finding it in the page list of your site structure, clicking the “Actions” dropdown menu to the right of the page / section in question, and selecting “Delete Section” in the list of options.

The color of a page / section in your site structure will visually indicate its status using a similar color system used to indicate the status of content blocks:

  • Approved = Black
  • Pending = Orange
  • Inactive = Red
