In her role, Bernie oversees and energizes LMU brand development initiatives, working with our award-winning teams to deliver memorable experiences, record-setting visibility, and increased revenues. She leads Marketing and Brand Management that comprises Athletics Marketing and Fan Engagement, Brand Management (including experiences, promotions, trademarks, and licensing), Creative and Production (including design, photo/video production, LMU Magazine), Enrollment Management Marketing, University Marketing, Social Media, and Digital Strategy and Solutions (including LMU.edu, the Emma email marketing platform, and our mobile applications).
Bernie has helped develop, launch, and elevate renowned global brands in the entertainment industry. She joined LMU from Apple, where she was tapped to help launch the film division for Apple TV+, focusing on establishing their vision, foundation, and processes in their first dedicated marketing strategy role from 2019 to 2022. Her portfolio included promoting a diverse slate of films, including “Greyhound,” “Palmer,” “Boys State,” “The Velvet Underground,” and “On the Rocks,” accomplishing increased subscriptions to the platform with record-breaking launches, awards, and accolades.
Prior to her role at Apple, Bernie served as the vice president for Marketing Strategy and Communications at 20th Century Fox, devising and leading marketing strategies for theatrical releases including “Dark Phoenix,” “Breakthrough,” “The Hate U Give,” “Bad Times at the El Royale,” and “The Predator.” Before then she was at IMAX where she spent more than a decade in various roles, ultimately serving as their vice president and head of Marketing Strategy and Planning, where she led campaign strategy for brand and film initiatives for more than 1,000 IMAX theaters worldwide. She was responsible for high-profile relationships and brand integrations with high-profile business partners, including Disney, Warner Bros., AMC, and Regal.
Bernie earned her bachelor’s degree in English from UC Berkeley. Beyond her professional duties, Bernie is the co-founder of Keep It In The Valley Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to funding an annual scholarship program for graduating seniors from the north-central Washington area, and she has served as a mentor and volunteer for the California Alumni Association.
