Using unauthorized services to create QR codes risks compromising the security of your personal or LMU email account. QR codes created on unauthorized services risk compromising the privacy of anyone who scans them through unwanted tracking and data sharing.

Types of QR Codes

  • Static:
    • Simple, standard QR code.
    • Destination URL cannot be changed after being created.
    • No analytics collected.
    • No templating or logos available, but LMU colors can be used.
    • Example use cases: One-off student club posters, simple event flyers.
  • Dynamic:
    • Expanded features to support more complex use cases.
    • Destination URL can be changed at any time after initial creation.
    • Analytics on uses is collected, including device, location, quantity of scans, and more.
    • Branded templates available.
    • Example use cases: Paid advertising, permanent or semi-permanent signage, recruitment and admissions materials.

How to Display a QR Code

Display the URL as plain text or a clickable link near the code so your audience can access the link even if they can’t scan the code. This raises awareness of your site and helps users verify the code points to the right link. For example:
